AM STEM Pre-Engineering

Objective: 

AM STEM at DXATC is a morning opportunity to elevate student learning and prepare a new generation for exciting careers in the high tech world of today's Manufacturing industries. Students will actually apply science, technology, engineering and math to open a vast world of possibilities, as they learn to make, fix, design, and automate really cool things. Industry partners drive curriculum, take an active role in the classroom, and provide paid summer internships to students who prove themselves.

AM STEM Pre-Engineering students will be able to:

  • Develop enhanced skill sets with immediate application in the workplace
  • Gain a working management perspective of: Manufacturing Processes and Lean Manufacturing, Industrial Maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance, Quality Systems/Processes and Lean Six Sigma Methodologies, Safety, OSHA Compliance and Safety Culture Development, Leadership and Supervisory Skills
  • Earn a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Earn a CPR/First Aid and AED certification
  • 30 Hour Hazwoper and JSA training

Steve Carwell


Steve Carwell, (BSEE), has spent several decades in various executive positions in the aerospace, medical devices, industrial products and sporting goods industries. His management experience includes serving as CEO of a publicly traded medical device manufacturer as well as working for 3 Fortune 500 companies. He eventually founded Jadestone Consulting where he worked with client companies throughout the U.S. and abroad. He has a proven track record as CFO, International Business Manager, Director of Sales & Market Development, and Director of Operations with experience in Quality Control, Process Engineering, Project Management, ISO Regulatory Compliance, OSHA & FDA Compliance, Domestic and International Sales, Organizational Development, Technical Manufacturing and Lean Six Sigma Implementation.
